Jim retired in December 2016. He founded Arbor in 1998 and served as President and Chief Executive Officer until 2015.
From 1985 to 1997, Jim was Southeastern U.S. Regional Director for Frank Russell Company and grew assets under management to more than $2 billion.
From 1973 to 1985, he was a Senior Vice President with Booke & Company (now Aon Consulting) and managed the firm’s Retirement Consulting Group.
From 1968 to 1971, Jim served in the United States Marine Corps, seeing duty in Vietnam, and ended his service with the rank of Captain.
Jim has been active in the community, serving as Chairman of: Arbor Acres Retirement Community, Audubon Society of North Carolina, Forsyth Country Club, Reynolda Rotary Club, Senior Services of Forsyth County, Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, UNC School of the Arts Foundation, Winston Salem State University Foundation and Wake Forest University MBA Alumni Council.
Jim’s interests include birding, golf, bridge, and hiking.
He and his wife, Mary Allen, are Meals-on-Wheels volunteers. They have two married sons and a grandson.

Scott joined Arbor in 2003 and served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer until 2015.
Prior to Arbor, Scott served in a number of risk management roles during a 12-year career with Wachovia Bank. Most recently, he was Senior Risk Officer for Wachovia’s asset management business.
Scott holds the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst designation, the only globally recognized credential for investment analysis and management. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the North Carolina Society of Financial Analysts. Scott is also a Certified Financial Planner certificant.
Scott has been active in the community since settling in Winston-Salem in 1991. He currently serves as a board member for Creative Corridors Coalition, Northwest North Carolina Community Foundation and Piedmont Federal Savings Bank. He is also a member of the Finance Committee for St. Paul's Episcopal Church and volunteered at the Samaritan Ministries shelter for the homeless.
Scott is an Eagle Scout. His personal pastimes include golf and skiing.

Scott joined Arbor in 2006.
From 2002 to 2006, Scott served as a Vice President with Wachovia Wealth Management in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he held the position of Regional Chief Financial Officer and, most recently, Relationship Manager.
Immediately prior to joining Wachovia, Scott was with First Union National Bank in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was an analyst in the Treasury/Corporate Strategy and Development Group.
Scott began his financial career as a regional loan officer with Merrill Lynch Credit Corporation in Jacksonville, Florida.
Scott has served on numerous boards and been an active volunteer throughout his career. He currently drives Meals-on-Wheels with Senior Services, on the board of New River Conservancy and is the treasurer for Trail Life Troop 942.
Scott’s interests include running, golf and traveling.
He and his wife, Mary, have three sons and one daughter.
William E. Hollan, III

Bill joined Arbor in 2011.
Prior to Arbor, Bill served in a number of commercial and retail leadership roles during an 11-year career at Branch Banking & Trust Company, both in Winston-Salem and in Southwest Virginia. He graduated from BB&T's Management Development Program in 2001 and was most recently Vice President and Portfolio Manager for BB&T's Winston-Salem Commercial office.
A native of Winston-Salem, Bill is active in the community, currently serving on the board of Winston-Salem Symphony and on the committees of several other organizations. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Winston-Salem, where he serves as chairman of the Foundation Committee. Bill is also a past trustee of Centenary United Methodist Church and Summit School, and a former chairman of both the Children's Museum of Winston-Salem and Junior Achievement of Northwest N.C.
Bill's interests include fly fishing, golf and traveling.
He and his wife, Elizabeth, have one son and two daughters.
